Current Status of Jurassic Park Film Development
As of mid-2026, there is no new Jurassic Park theatrical feature in active production, but multiple announced projects are in earlier development. The most concrete near-term entry is a new animated series for Netflix, while a live-action Jurassic World series continues production for television. No studio has announced a date for another big-screen Jurassic Park or Jurassic World theatrical movie beyond the existing films. The overall film pipeline remains quiet, with Universal and Amblin prioritizing streaming formats over new theatrical tentpoles in the immediate term.
Confirmed Announced Projects
Animated Series on Netflix
Netflix is developing an animated series set in the Jurassic universe. This project is positioned as family-friendly and explores storylines separate from the live-action continuity. It represents a shift toward streaming-first content for the brand rather than a theatrical release.
Jurassic World Live-Action Series
A live-action series intended for television is in production, expanding the Jurassic World narrative for small screens. This format allows for more serialized storytelling and deeper character exploration without the budget constraints of feature films.
Projected Timelines and Milestones
Below is a concise overview of announced milestones, where available. Note that public reporting on Jurassic Park projects can be sparse, and timelines may shift as development progresses.

Difference Between Jurassic Park and Jurassic World
Jurassic Park refers to the original 1993 film and its narrative legacy, while Jurassic World is the later franchise strand beginning in 2015. New content can carry either label, but recent announcements emphasize stories that connect to the broader Jurassic world mythology rather than rebooting the 1993 property directly. Understanding this distinction helps clarify which projects are direct sequels, spin-offs, or reimaginings.
Where to Look for Official Updates
For reliable information, monitor official studio channels and major entertainment news outlets. Key sources include press releases from Universal Pictures and Amblin, official Netflix announcements, and verified statements from producers. Treat unverified casting rumors or speculative articles as preliminary noise rather than confirmed development.
- Universal Pictures and Amblin press releases
- Netflix official announcements
- Trusted entertainment journalism from outlets with on-the-record sources
Common Misconceptions and Rumor Context
Rumors of imminent Jurassic Park movies often arise from legacy interest or set photo leaks from older projects. As of now, no credible studio schedule places a new theatrical feature in active development or post-production. Recognizing the difference between fan desire and confirmed pipelines helps temper expectations.
Bottom Line
There is no new Jurassic Park movie announced for theatrical release at this time. The most concrete upcoming branded content is an animated series on Netflix and an ongoing live-action series for television. If a new movie moves from rumor to reality, it will likely be disclosed through official studio channels well before filming begins.
